our story.

The start of our restaurant hatched from the hope of providing a comfortable, bright, one-of-a-kind space where people can gather to enjoy breakfast and brunch fare made with the highest quality ingredients. When we opened the doors to Rooster Downtown in 2006, it was a cozy thirty seat café with a staff of seven. Since then, it’s expanded to seat more than 240 guests including the patio. We’ve even added a second location in the Tower Grove neighborhood, Rooster South Grand, where we invested in the renovation of a mid-century modern style building constructed in the early 1960s originally designed for a banking institution. We are so proud to be a part of two vibrant, diverse neighborhoods in the St. Louis area.

Our South Grand location houses a very important and unique operation. The Commissary for the Baileys’ Restaurants family is actually inside Rooster South Grand! It is the central kitchen and production hub for all of our kitchens, established so we could make everything possible in-house. Our Commissary includes our own bakery and butcher shop, so we are able to do some amazing things we have always dreamt about doing, including baking every single bread, bun, and dessert that we serve, making all of our ice cream in house, and preparing meat that is always hormone-free and ethically raised. We do all of this so we can give our customers the best foods we possibly can.

Our farm-to-table mission is something we highly value. We love partnering with local farms in the Missouri and surrounding Midwest region. Thanks to them, our eggs, meat and produce are fresh, ethically raised, and locally sourced whenever possible. Even more exciting, we grow and utilize our own produce, herbs, and flowers from our very own urban Micro Farm located in the Gate District near Lafayette Square, managed by Baileys Restaurant’s in-house farmer, Will Erker.
